Gas line rupture delays WRTA service

YOUNGSTOWN — A gas line rupture today on Fifth Avenue in Youngstown is delaying WRTA’s fixed route service, according to the public transit system.

The rupture is in the area where improvements are being made to Fifth Avenue as part of a project to revamp the city’s downtown.

The rupture closed the Western Reserve Transit Authority’s Federal Station, the hub for Mahoning County’s fixed route system.

Most Mahoning County fixed routes, including the Warren Express route, will be impacted by this incident. Only routes that run only in Trumbull County, those with a 70-75 prefix, will not affected.

WRTA recommends riders download the myStop Mobile smartphone app, so they can check the status of any bus along WRTA’s fixed routes. The myStop Mobile is available on the Apple and Android platforms. Routes can also be tracked from the home page of WRTAás website at WRTAonline.com

Riders can call 330-744-8431 for updated information.
