POLAND TOWNSHIP — Trustees at a special meeting Tuesday cut the township’s seasonal employees and canceled the Walnut Grove stormwater project after learning there will be a $1,678 budget shortfall by the end of the year. FirstEnergy Corp. FirstEnergy Corp. on Tuesday reported second-quarter net income of $288 million. On a per-share basis, the Akron-based company said it had net income of 50 cents. The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 49 cents per share. Man shot to death in ‘targeted shooting’ on South Side

YOUNGSTOWN — City police and ambulance crews were on the scene of a fatal, targeted shooting Wednesday afternoon near a Glenwood Avenue auto dealership. A Youngstown police news release states that a man, 20, was killed in a 3:11 p.m. incident at Glenwood and Indianola avenues on the South Side. The release states that officers were called to the intersection for a shooting and saw a deceased man with multiple gunshot wounds.
