YSU Wind Ensemble, Concert Band to perform at Stambaugh Auditorium
The Youngstown State University Wind Ensemble and Concert Band will play their fall concert Sunday.
The Dana School of Music ensemble will perform a program ranging from traditional marches to contemporary works and holiday favorites.
The YSU Concert Band, under the direction of Kate Ferguson, will play Katahj Copley’s contemporary piece “Backlash”; Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “English Folk Song Suite,” arranged by Ed Huckeby; John Rutter’s “Candlelight Carol,” arranged by Jay Dawson; John Philip Sousa’s “Mother Hubbard March” and a festive arrangement of “Dashing Through the Snow,” based on the classic “Jingle Bells.”
The YSU Wind Ensemble, directed by Michael S. Butler, will follow with Ryan George’s “Firefly,” the late David Maslanka’s “Traveler” and Dennis Llinas’ “La Chancla.”
The concert starts at 4 p.m. Sunday at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave., Youngstown. Tickets are $9 for adults, $8 for students and senior citizens and free for YSU students and children ages 11 and younger and are available online at experienceyourarts.org and by calling 330-259-9651.
