Tamburitzans bring song and dance to DeYor

The Tamburitzans return to DeYor Performing Arts Center on Sunday.

Its newest production, “The Shared Song,” showcases traditional music and dance from Eastern Europe as well as a rousing detour through an Irish pub. From the harmonies of Croatian folk singers to the footwork of Serbian kolo, the performance celebrates centuries-old traditions.

The show isn’t just about music and movement; it’s also about connection. In addition to homegrown talent, The Tamburitzans” 2025 ensemble includes talented student-performers from Kazakhstan, Serbia and Spain, each of whom brings a unique personal heritage and perspective to the stage.

For these artists, “The Shared Song” is a deeply meaningful tribute to their own cultures and a chance to share them with American audiences.

According to performer Aleksandar Milkovic, who grew up with the jazzy sounds of kafana in Serbia, “It feels like I”m telling my story, and the story of my country, through music.”

The troupe is made up of Pittsburgh-area college students. With more than 85 years, The Tamburtizans are America”s longest-running multicultural song and dance ensemble.

The program starts at 3 p.m. Sunday at Ford Family Recital Hall, 260 W. Federal St., Youngstown.

Tickets range from $14.50 to $39 and are available at the DeYor box office, online at experienceyourarts.org and by calling 330-259-9651.

Starting at $3.23/week.
