Train show planned in Youngstown
The Iron and Steel All-Gauge Model Train Show and Expo takes place Saturday at St. Mary’s Assumption Social Center, 356 S. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown.
It will feature train sets, locomotives, rolling stock and accessories for model train collectors.
The show runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is $7 with children ages 16 and younger admitted free. The venue is handicap accessible.
Torch Club hosts program
The Youngstown Torch Club will present a program Wednesday by Thomas Welsh on “Republic at a Crossroads: A Personal Encounter with South Korea in the 1990s.”
Welsh lived in South Korea between 1994 to 1998, as an associate editor and staff writer for The Korea Herald, covering social and cultural issues and editing its weekly news magazine. Welsh has written a series of local and regional history books for The History Press. He is a Youngstown State University graduate and earned his doctorate from Kent State University.
The program is free and starts at 7 p.m. at Davidson’s Restaurant, 3636 Canfield Road, Cornersburg. Dinner will be available at 6 p.m. For more information, call 234-308-3149.
CWC hosts author of ‘Granny Files’
The Columbiana Women’s Club will host a program with author Lindsay Clifton at 7 p.m. Sept. 24 at its clubhouse, 121 N. Main St., Columbiana.
Clifton will share excerpts from her book “Middle Fingers of Love: The Granny Files,” providing insights about caring for loved ones with dementia in peace and with humor.The event will include light refreshments and a book signing.
The cost is $20, and RSVP is required.
