Make a date with Rust Belt revue
For those whose Valentine’s Day isn’t filled with candy and heart emojis, Rust Belt Theater Company has “Dating Sucks: The Musical,” which returns Friday for a two-weekend run.
Written by Robert Dennick Joki with orchestrations by Josh Taylor, the revue-style musical explores the peaks and pitfalls of modern dating, with cringeworthy, real-life dating stories and original songs.
The show also features dialogue taken directly from online dating profiles and mobile dating app conversations as well as contributions from the audience. It’s a raunchy multimedia musical that leaves little to the imagination.
One of Rust Belt’s oldest annual productions, the show is updated annually to reflect the current dating climate.
The cast includes Caitlyn Murphy, Sarah Whitlatch, Shelby Gossick, Charity Bauer, Heather Powell, PK Lankford, Lisa Torrence, Rian Davis, Vasi Sfikas, Keith Stepanic, Janelle Yohman and Robert Dennick Joki.
“Dating Sucks: The Musical” will be staged at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday through Feb. 22 at Club Switch, 221 Belmont Ave., Youngstown.
Tickets are $15 and can be reserved by calling 330-507-2358.
