Ballet Western Reserve adds Pa. ‘Nutcracker’ date

Ballet Western Reserve will take its “Nutcracker” on the road this year.

In addition to performances at 7 p.m. Dec. 7 and 2:30 p.m. Dec. 8 at Powers Auditorium and accompanied by the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra, the dance company also will perform the holiday ballet Dec. 14 at Thiel College in Greenville, Pa., with musical accompaniment by the Greenville Symphony Orchestra.

According to BWR’s Executive and Artistic Director Danielle Perrotta, “BWR is thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with another professional symphony and share our ‘Nutcracker’ production with new audiences in Mercer County, Pa.”

Tickets at both venues will go on sale today. Tickets for the Powers productions are available at experienceyourarts.org and by calling 330-259-9651. Tickets for the Greenville performance are available online at www.thegreenvillesymphony.org/concerts-tickets.

Auditions for this year’s “Nutcracker” are scheduled Aug. 24 and are open to experienced and non-experienced dancers ages 4 and older. Go to balletwesternreserve.org for more information.

Perrotta also announced that Emily Pasquale has been named school director and Savannah Lach is director of enrollment and community outreach. Both have been long-time instructors at the dance school.

In December BWR will be featured on OhioDance’s Virtual Dance Collection, an interactive website that documents and preserves the achievements of persons and institutions that have shaped and contributed to the state’s dance history. The segment will be available at vdc.ohiodance.org.

According to BWR board President Kim Riddle, “We are so grateful and appreciative that our rich history of excellence in dance education was chosen to be highlighted by such a respected organization like OhioDance.”
