Murcko performs musical poetry for Lit Youngstown

Poet and musician Terry Murcko will perform for Lit Youngstown’s First Wednesday Reader Series.

Murcko has set to music poems written by iconic northeast Ohio poets, including E Halliman, Frank Polite, Daniel Thompson, Maj Ragain, Maggie Anderson, George Peffer, Jeanne Mahon, Mary Greer, Jim Villani and Josh Cohen.

A voice in Youngstown poetry for over 40 years, Murcko helped Jim Villani start PigIron Press in the ’70s. He is the recipient of a prize from the Robinson Jeffers Tor House Foundation and is included in the anthology Fallen City Writers.

He retired from teaching and play directing after 35 years.

The program starts at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Trophy Room at Westside Bowl, 2617 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown. The Trophy Room is accessible only by stairs. Admission is free. For more information, go to www.LitYoungstown.org.
