JCC’s Levy series features baseball documentary
The movie “Israel Swings for the Gold” will be shown 11 a.m. June 11 at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, 505 Gypsy Lane, as part of its J. Newman Levy Speaker Series.
The movie chronicles Israel’s 2021 Olympics baseball team, the first time the country participated in the sport. With no media allowed in Tokyo’s Olympic Village, the players recorded their own experiences. Mostly newly minted Israelis, they log unexpected battles against anti-semitism and anti-Zionism.
