Stambaugh youth band plays spring concert

The Stambaugh Youth Concert Band will end its 2022-23 season with its spring concert on Tuesday.

The featured soloist will be Anna Joy, flute. The Columbiana High School senior has participated in the Columbiana County Honor Band, Youngstown State University Side by Side honor Band and The Ohio State University Honor Band. In addition to playing flute, Joy has taken piano lessons for 11 years and organ lessons for 6 years.

The concert also will include the presentation of the Barbara Armstrong Scholarship, which is awarded to an outstanding senior each year.

The band is made up of 69 top high school musicians from northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania and is under the direction of Tyler Husosky, Kate Ferguson and Nathan Sensabaugh.

The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave., Youngstown. Tickets range from $8 to $10 and are available online at stambaugh auditorium.com and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at the DeYor Performing Arts Center box office, 260 W. Federal St., Youngstown, and by calling the box office at 330-259-9651.

The concert also will be livestreamed on the Stambaugh website and to the Stambaugh Auditorium YouTube channel.
