Museum displays vintage city photos

“Youngstown Illustrated: A City of Progress” is on display at the Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Ave., Youngstown.

“Youngstown Illustrated,” published in 1889, is a nine-part pictorial record of the city’s prosperity during a period of tremendous growth and change. Youngstown grew from an incorporated village in 1850 to a city of the second class (having at least 5,000 people) in 1868 to a city of the first class (having at least 25,000 people) in 1896. The book provides a glowing portrait of the city as a rising industrial hub.

Images from “Youngstown Illustrated” will be on display through July at the museum.

Starting at $3.23/week.
