Series to focus on Kenley Players

Child actor, Kenley Players’ performer and local drama director Bob Vargo will be the next speaker for the William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society’s Memories of a Lifetime lecture series.

Vargo acted, staged managed and directed for Kenley Players, Theatre of the Stars, and Flint Star Theatre and is a past managing director of the Youngstown Playhouse. He will talk about John Kenley’s early history as well as his career as the most successful summer stock producer in theater history. Packard Music Hall in Warren was one of the theaters Kenley used from 1958 until 1977.

The program starts at 10 a.m. Oct. 15 at Denny’s Restaurant Meeting Room, 4020 Belmont Ave., Liberty. Admission is $5 for McGuffey members and $10 for nonmembers and includes refreshments and live entertainment. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 330-726-8277.
