JCC offers art workshops in mid-August

YOUNGSTOWN — Registration is open for three workshops this month at The Paul and Yetta Gluck School of Visual Arts at the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane.

“Support Through Expressive Arts,” for ages 18 and older, will meet 6 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 15. Hope Haney, executive director of NAMI of Mahoning Valley, will lead a free expressive arts workshop on mental health wellness and healing.

“Fairies, Gnomes & Dragons,” for ages 10 and older, will meet 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and Aug. 17. Participants will use air dry clay and recycled objects to create their own fantasy world. The cost is $30 for JCC members and $40 for nonmembers.

“Mixed Media Abstract Collage,” for all ages, will meet 5 to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 18. Participants will combine various art materials to create a mixed media piece. Participants can use provided materials or bring their own. Children 10 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. The cost is $20 for JCC members and $25 for nonmembers.
