Silent horror films with live organ accompaniment have been an October tradition at Stambaugh Auditorium.

The tradition will continue, but this year as a hybrid event designed both for those want to watch it live and those who would prefer to livestream it at home.

The 1925 version of “Phantom of the Opera,” starring Lon Chaney as the title character, will be screened at 4 p.m. Oct. 25 with a score provided by Peter Richard Conte playing Stambaugh’s E.M. Skinner pipe organ. Making his fifth appearance at Stambaugh, Conte is the principal organist at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA., and organist / choirmaster at St. Clement Church in Philadelphia.

For those who want to attend in person, tickets are $10 (which includes a bottle of water and a bag of popcorn) and go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday at stamb aughauditorium.com and by calling 330-259-0555.

The performance also will be livestreamed online and free to view. More details on the online event will be released closer to the performance date.
