McDonough offers virtual exhibitions

The McDonough Museum is hosting two new virtual exhibitions.

“ARTS: Artists Reaching & Teaching Students” highlights the role of art educators in the community as they sow the seeds for future artists and art appreciators.

In an effort to demonstrate the McDonough Museum’s commitment to art education in Northeast Ohio, it is featuring the artwork of Mahoning and Trumbull county high school art teachers and their students.

This exhibition will run throughout the summer.

“#BlackLivesMatter #BlackArtistsMatter” is part of the museum’s commitment to feature the work of artists with under-represented voices and viewpoints. Through this virtual exhibition, the McDonough is highlighting the artwork of historical and contemporary black visual artists — regionally, nationally and internationally renowned.

It is including links for websites to learn more information about the artwork and artists, and the McDonough also is seeking suggestions from the community about artists to feature. Suggestions can be emailed to mcdonoughmuseumofart@ysu.edu.

This exhibition will run indefinitely.

Both shows currently can be found on the McDonough’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts and will be archived on the McDonough Museum website.
