YSU planetarium hosts ‘Rock the Dome’

“Rock the Dome” returns to the Ward Beecher Planetarium with seven musical light shows over two days.

The free shows using the planetarium’s SkySkan Definiti Theater System will feature images choreographed to the music of the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Queen, David Bowie, Rush, the Police and many other classic rock and contemporary acts.

Friday’s schedule features:

• 5 p.m. — “For Those About to Rock: A Salute to Classic Rock!” (Journey, Rush, Led Zeppelin, etc.)

• 6 p.m. — “Out of This World” (space-related songs by The B-52s, Bowie, Moby, Muse and others)

• 7 p.m. — The Beatles

• 8 p.m. — “Lit Mix” (contemporary hits by Lizzo, Billie Eilish, Panic! At the Disco and others)

• 9 p.m. — Queen

• 10 p.m. — Pink Floyd

The Saturday lineup includes:

•2 p.m. — “Living in the ’80s” (songs by Modern English, The Cars, A Flock of Seagulls and others)

• 3 p.m. — “For Those About to Rock: A Salute to Classic Rock!”

• 5 p.m. — “Living in the ’80s”

• 6 p.m. — “Out of This World”

• 7 p.m. — The Beatles

• 8 p.m. — “Lit Mix”

• 9 p.m. — Queen

• 10 p.m. — Pink Floyd

The planetarium is located on the campus of Youngstown State University. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted. Seating is on a first-come, first-seated basis, and once a show has started, latecomers will not be admitted.

Free street parking is available on the weekend, and paid parking will be available in the Wick Avenue parking deck.
