Boardman Historical Society presents Mettee lecture on trips to Russia
Retired Youngstown State University professor Howard Mettee will speak at 10 a.m. Saturday at a Boardman Historical Society program at the Boardman Library, 7680 Glenwood Ave.
In 1994 he organized an exchange delegation to four universities in Russia. More recently he served as president of the Russia-United States Intercountry Committee of Rotary International. Through Mettee’s connections and organizational skills, the Boardman Rotary has hosted more than a dozen delegations from Russia. Mettee was a Fulbright scholar in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1997-98 at the Forestry Academy, and in 2011 received an honorary doctorate from Forestry University for his grant work there in pyrolytic fuels.
He will share memories of his trips to Russia and the numerous exchanges between Russia and the Mahoning Valley. Admission is free.
