Dennis and Sherry Matey

The golden anniversary of Dennis and Sherry Matey was celebrated June 7, 2025, at the Bessemer Croatian Club, the location of their wedding reception 50 years ago.

Mr. And Mrs. Matey were married June 7, 1975, at St. Joseph the Worker Church, previously of New Castle, Pa.

The reception was a surprise given by their children, Chalsa Matey of Columbiana, Kelly and Seth Matey of New Springfield, and Kyla and J.T. Joyner of Novelty.

Among the guests were their eight grandchildren, friends and family from seven different states and members of their original bridal party.

Dennis retired as the project manager at The Shops at Boardman Park in 2019, and Sherry retired after 35 years at Armstrong Cable in 2018.

They have been enjoying traveling the nation on their various adventures and wintering in Florida ever since.

This occasion serves as the third generation of Mateys to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
