Shoot for the stars and aim for the impossible
The other day, a few of the members of Dandelion-Inc and I decided that we were in dire need of getting together and doing something as a group that wasn’t about direct, measurable growth — either in business or personal development.
Don’t get me wrong, growth is great, but sometimes we need a different kind of connection. The kind that doesn’t come from a workshop or a goal-setting session, but from simply being together.
And what better way than to go celebrate another member who has a magnificent voice and talent — paired with her partner of many years — performing downtown at Windows on the Square?
If you’re reading this and thinking, “Wait… where is that?” — let me fill you in. It’s the hotel lobby of the DoubleTree downtown.
I know, I know — you might be wondering, “The lobby? Really?”
But trust me on this one: the atmosphere is so cool. The views, especially when darkness blankets the city, are on point.
The interior lighting is the chef’s kiss. It’s the perfect chill spot for, well, let me be blunt — my age group and beyond. Great conversation.
Live entertainment (at least on Fridays). Drinks. And yes, they serve food from the restaurant downstairs.
Anyway, I digress.
We were there, celebrating each other’s wins, consoling the losses and just being there for each other. At one point, one of them mentioned that we’re in a time when the Lion’s Gate is open — that we should be specific about what we want to manifest, about what we desire, which hit me in an interesting way.
I’m currently still in the process of building my business and finalizing my book, and the numbers — financial projections, goals, expenses — keep swirling around in my mind. And then there’s the battle of feeling guilty for wanting “too much.”
But then I remembered something a dear friend once said to me years ago, when I was helping him sell his home:
“Let’s shoot for the stars, and if we land on the moon, then I’m good with that.”
That mindset. We need it to stick.
Because really, why shouldn’t we all live like that?
Why shouldn’t we aim for the thing that feels almost impossible? If we fall short, we’re still far ahead of where we started. We still have the ability to look back and see how much we’ve accomplished, and how much we’ve learned along the way.
As I sat at that bar, sipping my cocktail and taking in the scene — a room filled with people laughing, talking, singing along to my friend — inside a building that was once thought to be lost, I realized something. This place, this moment, only existed because at some point, someone did shoot for the stars. They didn’t let “impossible” stop them. And thank goodness for that.
So here’s to all the dreamers, the believers, the ones who want more — whether that’s more peace, more adventure, more love, more money or more purpose.
Don’t hold back. Go for all of it. Then savor it. Enjoy the messy, winding, beautiful journey along the way.
Because who knows? You might just land on the moon.
So… what’s your “stars” goal right now? The one that scares you just enough to make your heart race? Email me — I want to hear it.
