GIRARD CENTER: Participation in programs at the Girard Multi-Generational Center, 443 Trumbull Ave., is by telephone appointment only. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. for participants with fitness room appointments Monday through Friday. Coffee bar and mind exercises will be in the gym at 9 a.m., and stretching class will be in the gym at 9:30.

Coffee bar, mind exercises and stretching class will be held in person on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. There will be virtual programming on Thursdays. The computer cafe will be available between 1:15 and 4 p.m. five days a week. One-on-one supportive service appointments will be scheduled by telephone.

Participants are asked not to arrive more than 10 minutes prior to their appointment.

RSVP IN THE VALLEY: The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Mahoning Valley is a national service program for individuals 55 and older who want to volunteer in Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

PROGRAM FOR SENIORS: Action and MYCAP, along with Christ Centered Church, will present Seniors Offering Services for men and women 65 and older.

Three days a week, seniors will participate in a structured virtual program of exercise, classes, game time, community awareness, movies and television, healthy cooking, chit chat and humor, among other things. Once a week, lunch will be delivered while they participate in either game time, television, movies or guest speakers.

FOOD DELIVERY: Direction Home of Eastern Ohio is partnering with various agencies for Families First Coronavirus Response Act funding for no-contact food deliveries to seniors 60 and older. Agencies include: Mahoning and northern Columbiana — Easter Seals, 330-884-2513, or Jewish Family Services, 330-746-7929; Columbiana — Easter Seals, 330-884-2513.

SENIOR WATCH PROGRAM: Liberty residents 60 and older may sign up for the Liberty Township Senior Watch Program.

FALL PREVENTION GUIDE: The Ohio Department of Public Safety Division of EMS joined with the Ohio Injury Prevention Partnership and released an updated “Elderly Fall Prevention Resource Guide” for EMS providers and the general public.

ALZHEIMER HELP ONLINE: The Alzheimer’s Association’s online Community Resource Finder, at alz.org/crf, provides ZIP code area-specific information on topics such as care at home, community services and housing options.

In Ohio, the Alzheimer’s Association offers numerous caregiver support groups, which have shifted to a virtual platform. In addition, a number of dial-in telephone support groups have been added for additional support. Telephone support groups provide emotional, educational and social support for caregivers through regularly scheduled meetings.

PERI CHAPTER 18 MEETINGS CANCELED: With the coronavirus pandemic moving toward 2021, Ohio Public Employee Retirees Chapter 18, which encompasses Mahoning County, members meeting luncheons are canceled until further notice.

Chapter 18 will continue to recruit new members, both retired and current employees. Interested public employees and retirees may contact President Walter M. Duzzny at colduzz@zoominternet.net, or visit www.mahoningperi.com.

OPERS has stated that the organization will remain active in the investment area and watch market trends. Duzzny said that to ensure that retirement benefits are secure, chapters throughout the state will continue to work with OPERS and local state legislators.

Duzzny said there are more than 450 active members in Chapter 18.
