The YSU women’s team will play host to UIC instead of Detroit Mercy for two games this weekend at Beeghly Center, the Horizon League announced Thursday.

The Penguins and Flames will play for the second consecutive weekend after YSU won both contests in Chicago last Friday and Saturday. Youngstown State had an opening due to Detroit Mercy suspending the remainder of its season, and UIC’s opening occurred because of a positive COVID test within Northern Kentucky’s Tier 1 bubble.

Both games will be at 2 p.m. as part of a doubleheader with the men’s team. Friday’s women’s game will be broadcast on 1390 WNIO and ESPN+, and Saturday’s contest will be on 570 WKBN and ESPN+.
