Jackson leads women’s win

RICHMOND, Ky. — Ny’Dajah Jackson scored 14 of her game-high 19 points in the second half to lead the Youngstown State women’s basketball team to a 72-63 win over Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday evening at McBrayer Arena.

The Penguins trailed by as many as 15 points in the second quarter, but they worked the deficit down to four at halftime and outscored their old Ohio Valley Conference rivals 41-28 in the second half.

Jackson scored the final seven points of the third period to give Youngstown State a 54-47 lead heading into the final 10 minutes, and the Penguins built their lead to as high as 13 in the fourth.

Youngstown State improved to 4-3 and earned its first road victory of 2019-20. Eastern Kentucky had its three-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 5-3.

Jackson’s 19 points came on 8-of-11 shooting from the field, and she was 3-for-3 from 3-point range. Taylor Petit also made three 3s and finished a rebound shy of a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds, and Chelsea Olson had 13 points and six rebounds.
