Burnside highlights ‘Thanksgiving Feast’
GIRARD – Phil Albenze of Downtown Boxing Club scored a win by decision over Jason Cosa of Stickell B.C. in the master’s division main event of Jack Loew’s 13-bout “Thanksgiving Feast” fight show late Saturday night at the Metroplex Banquet Center.
The all-amateur card featured local fighters from Loew’s South Side Boxing Club, Burnside A.C., Deezol Boxing Club and Downtown B.C.
Other fighters on the card hailed from Akron, Ambridge, Pennsylvania, Board B.C. of Toronto, Ohio, Butler, Pennsylvania and Cleveland.
In arguably the fight of the night, Keith Burnside, who is trained by his father, Keith, of Burnside Athletic Club, went toe to toe for three full rounds to score a split decision win over Tim Lewis of SSBC in a 150 pound pairing.
Arron Douglas of Downtown B.C. topped Jesse Byron of Board Boxing Club in a heavyweight clash when the referee stopped the fight at 1:35 of the third round.
In a 195 pound scrap, Antwone Peoples (SSBC) won by decision over Jordan Carr of Ellwood City, Devon Tate (SSBC) decisioned T.Q. Williams (Steel City) in a 165 pound pairing while at 145 pounds, Tiajhon Carter of Cleveland scored a decision over SSBC’s Ascell Alsamach.
Isaac Johnson of SSBC decisioned Ayden Isabella of Deezol B.C. in a 145 pound match-up, Akron’s Francis Bonner scored a decision over Papo Perez of New Castle at 135 pounds.
Dominic Ward, also of Akron, bested Lewis Henderson (SSBC) in a 138 pound pairing when the fight was stopped 50 seconds into the final round.
Other winners included Dan Bodish of Ambridge over Isaac Chapman of Deezol B.C. when he was disqualified in the third round of their in 125 pound clash, SSBC’s Mike Hopkins, who scored a decision over Akron’s Jaylen Smith in a 75 pound pairing.
Rocco Wrobel, also of SSBC who scored a win by decision over Colton Wilson (Ambridge), also at 75 pounds while at 70 pounds, it was Xavier Campbell of Ambridge scoring a hard fought decision over Braylon Penland of Cleveland.
