Phantoms hire Contois as associate head coach

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Phantoms have hired Andy Contois as an associate head coach. Contois brings coaching experience with the Indy Fuel of the ECHL, the Central Illinois Flying Aces of the United States Hockey League and the Brookings Blizzard of the North American Hockey League to Youngstown.

Contois played Division I college hockey at Northern Michigan University and also had a nine-year professional career as a player.

“I am very happy and honored to join the Youngstown Phantoms organization,” Contois said. “First, I would like to thank the owners Mr. (Murry) Gunty and Mr. (Bruce) Zoldan for the opportunity. I am excited to work with Ryan Kosecki and Jason Deskins in their emphasis and approach to player development as well as their vision of developing long term success for the Phantoms.

“I am equally excited to work and learn from Head Coach Brad Patterson. Having coached against him in the USHL, I know his teams are well-coached and prepared to compete every night. I look forward to being a part of developing players both on and off the ice for the next level and helping to bring a championship to Youngstown.”
