Scrappers lose 3rd in row

The Mahoning Valley Scrappers suffered their third straight loss of the MLB Draft League season, losing 8-7 at West Virginia on Wednesday night.

A six-run sixth inning for the Black Bears wiped out a 3-1 Mahoning Valley advantage. The Scrappers (9-5) scored three times in the seventh to pull within one, but never caught the Black Bears (7-3-3).

Jason Hinchman had two hits and drove in three runs while scoring two himself to lead the Scrapper offense.

On Tuesday night, the Black Bears jumped out to a 4-0 lead over Mahoning Valley and added on for a 10-3 victory.

Bobby Sparling had two hits and drove in two runs for the Scrappers and Trent Buck Anderson had two hits and two walks.

Mahoning Valley continues its road trip tonight in West Virginia, then plays at Frederick on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Scrappers return to Eastwood Field next week for three-game series against State College (Tuesday through Thursday) and West Virginia (Friday through Sunday).
