NILES — Though much is different as minor league baseball returns to the Mahoning Valley following a year off because of the COVID-19 pandemic, much remains the same.

The Mahoning Valley Scrappers no longer are affiliated with the Cleveland Indians, but the club will offer plenty of fun at the stadium with the usual discounts, special nights and giveaways, including postgame fireworks following the team’s home opener on May 26.

Single-game tickets for the Scrappers will go on sale Friday at 8:30 a.m. Tickets will be available online at www.mvscrappers.com, by calling 330-550-0000 or by stopping at the box office at Eastwood Field in Niles. Single-game ticket prices range from $8 to $13.

After 21 years as an Indians’ affiliate, the Scrappers now are a founding member of the MLB Draft League, which will be comprised of players — from both college and high school — who are expected to be chosen in the draft in early July.

Other teams in the new league are the West Virginia Black Bears, Williamsport Crosscutters, State College Spikes, Trenton Thunder and Frederick (Md.) Keys.

The Scrappers are promoting an evening with manager Coco Crisp — a former Cleveland Indians fan favorite — at Eastwood Field on May 19 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 and are limited in quantity. Each ticket includes food and drink, a question and answer session, an autographed photo, and one upper box ticket voucher good for any May home game. Tickets are on sale at mvscrappers.com.

Many of the Scrappers’ weekly promotions for home games return. There are Senior Discounts and All-You-Can-Eat features on Tuesday, Military Appreciation Nights and $2 Pizza Slice Nights on Wednesday, Buck Nights on Thursday, fireworks on Friday, giveaway promotions on Saturday and Every Sunday Matters on Sunday when a donation of a non-perishable food item, new or gently used clothing or a children’s book, can be exchanged for a free general admission ticket.

The Scrappers encourage digital ticketing options for the 2021 season. Print-at-home tickets and mobile paperless ticket entry is recommended.
