18U Championship Series

Thursday, Game 4

Astro Falcons 9, Creekside Fitness 0 (series tied 2-2) – The Astro Falcons staved off elimination for the second straight night, and in convincing fashion no less, defeating Creekside Fitness 9-0 in game four of the 18u Championship Series. Astro has forced a decisive game five scheduled tonight. Andrew Russell was masterful in the win for Astro, tossing a three-hit, complete game shutout. Russell struck out nine and only walked one. For Astro, Lucas Gulcynski and AJ Havrilla each had a hit, a run and two RBI. Brandon Gelpi had a hit and two RBI, Russell slugged a double and scored a run, and Chase Franken touched home twice and plated one more in the win. BJ Arnold led the way for Creekside with two hits.

Wednesday, Game 3

Astro Falcons 15, Creekside Fitness 1 – The Astro Falcons staved off elimination in a major way, utilizing the power of a 13-run fourth inning for their first win in the series. Jon McCullough was brilliant for Astro in the win, allowing just one run on two hits in a complete game outing, while striking out nine and walking only two. Will Ray helped lead the way for Astro with two hits, two runs scored and two runs batted in. JJ Wetherholt had two hits, including a double, three RBI and a run scored, while Russell clubbed a double, scored a run, and drove in three runs in the game. Ricky Havrilla slugged a double of his own, drove in two runs, and scored twice while Franken contributed a hit, an RBI and three runs scored to the winning cause. McCullough helped himself out with an RBI double and also scoring two more runs in the contest.

14U Championship

Astro Falcons 14, Whiting Roll-Offs 0 (Astro wins series 3-0) – Astro outhit Whiting 13-2 and the five-inning rout finished off a 3-0 sweep of the championship series. The winners scored four runs in both the first and second innings, then three more in the third and three in the fourth.
