B League openers

The Class B league began its season Sunday at Cene Park in Struthers with games in both the 16U and 18U divisions.

16U games

Knightline 5, Avalanche 2 – Jake Corll tossed a complete game for Knightline, allowing just four hits while striking out nine. Gavin Shrum had a double and single with three RBI for Knightline, Mike Sciortino had two hits and Gavin Mauger slugged a double. Ethan Mannion hit an RBI double for Avalanche.

Astro Falcons 6, Roth Brothers 0 – Jake Grdic picked up the win for Astro, yielding just four hits in 3 2/3 shutout innings. Anthony Miller had the big blow, a three-run double for Astro. Ben Slanker had two hits and scored three times, Tino Campoli added a hit and two RBI to the winning cause and Cole Constable contributed a hit, an RBI and two runs scored.

DuraEdge 13, Eagle Wear 5 – Caleb Jones helped lead the way for DuraEdge with two hits and three RBI. Anthonoy Malagise added two hits, two RBI and a run scored, while Parker Lyons had a hit and two RBI, Karter Weitzel and Brady Shannon each banged out a hit and scored twice, and Nate Rynd contributed two runs scored and an RBI to the victory. Ryan Hooper had a hit and two runs scored for Eagle Wear while Ethan Prout added a hit, a run and an RBI.

18U games

Astro Falcons 10, Whiting Rolloffs 0 – Andrew Russell tossed a four-hit shutout, striking out six and walking one. Will Ray led Astro with a pair of hits, including a double, three RBI and a run scored. Dom Pilolli slugged a two-run triple en route to a three-RBI night while also touching home twice. JJ Westerhold hit a double and scored twice while Chase Franked added a hit and two runs of his own.
