BOYS BASKETBALL

Maplewood 55, Lordstown 50 – The Rockets held off Lordstown Friday night with an impressive 16-point fourth quarter to secure a 5-point win. Connor Steffens led the way with 13 points while Bryson Himes and Alex Donaldson tallied 11 apiece. Logan Bruggraf also scored 12 for Maplewood.

Garfield 57, Champion 52 – Despite a 20-point performance from Keegan McDermott, the Golden Flashes fell to the G-Men Friday night/ Kaidan Spade led Garfield with 26 points while Anthony Demma added 15 and Eric Geddes scored 11.

Hubbard 52, Niles 46 – A strong second half got the Red Dragons close but it wasn’t enough as the Eagles held off Niles on the road. Riley Heckert scored a team-high 12 points for Hubbard while Sam Perrone tallied the game-high with 20 points for Niles. Kaden Lowe also scored 10 points for Hubbard.

Struthers 58, Poland 41 – After a low-scoring first quarter, the flood gates opened but it was the Wildcats that eventually pulled away in the end behind the three-headed monster of Nick DelGratta, Dante Colarossi and Sal Shaffer. The trio combined for 41 points and DelGratta led the way with a team-high 15 points. Ross Dedo led the way for Poland with a game-high 19 points.

Brookfield 71, Crestview 50 – Donovan Pawlowski exploded for 33 points Friday night to lead the Warriors to a 21-point victory over the Rebels. Isaiah Jones added 16 points in the win. James Best scored a team-high 18 for Crestview while Anthony Cusick added 11 and Wyatt Miller scored 10.

Leetonia 33, Lisbon 32 – Thanks to a strong fourth quarter, Leetonia erased a deficit and earned a 1-point win. Jacob McCol led the way with 9 points for Leetonia. Trevor Siefke scored a game-high 16 points for Lisbon.

Jackson-Milton 54, McDonald 48 – The Blue Devils scored 24 points in the 14 quarter but couldn’t quite overcome an early deficit before falling to the Blue Jays at home. Logan Sokol scored 18 points and Aidan Stanke tallied 17 in the win for Jackson-Milton while Michael Porter led the home squad with 15 points. Wyatt Wolford also tallied 11 for McDonald.

South Range 44, Lakeview 40 – After falling behind early, the Raiders worked their way back to take a lead into halftime and held on for a 4-point win over the Bulldogs. Dylan Turvey and Ayden Leon led South Range with 11 points a piece while Landon Moore added 10. Aidan Popvich scored a game-high 14 points for Lakeview, including going 7-of-7 from the charity stripe.

Kennedy 74, Rootstown 59 – Michael Condoleon led the way with 22 points and Nick Ryan tallied 18 in a dominating victory for Kennedy. Jaden Rishel added 14 in the win.

Bristol 74, Windham 52 – The combination of Nick Church and Mikey Burbach led the way for the Panthers again as they scored 16 and 25 points respectively in a big win. Bert Jones led the Bombers with 19 points and Mikiylen Jones added 15.

Austintown Fitch 44, Canfield 41 – Alan Underwood broke a tie ball game with four seconds left on a half court game-winner for the Falcons. He finished with 9 points but DeShawn Vaughn led Fitch with 13 total points. Jake Grdic scored a game-high for Canfield with 14.

Ursuline 53, Benedictine 33 – Jayden Payne had a big night for the Fighting Irish, leading the way with 25 points on the way to a 20-point win. Will Burney also added 11 in the win.

Southern 64, East Palestine 56 – Jason Riggs hit 7 3-pointers and scored a game-high 25 points to lead Southern past East Palestine Friday night. Payton Elliott scored a team-high 20 for East Palestine.

Salem 56, West Branch 39 – The Quakers won their third straight game with an upset win over West Branch Friday night behind a 14-point performance from Cam Sampson. Brock Young chipped in 12 points, including 10 in the second half that powered the Quakers to victory. Dru DeShields scored 14 to lead West Branch.

Mathews 68, Fairport 53 – The Mustangs had a pleasant trip home from Fairport Harbor after taking down the Skippers to move to 16-1 on the season. Dominic Greenwood led Mathews with 20 points. Vincent Greenwood and Tyler Hopkinson each scored 12 points and Vinny Sharp tacked on 11.

Valley Christian 45, Columbiana 43 – Nick Million scored a game-high 20 points for Columbiana but it wasn’t enough as the Eagles made a late charge in the fourth quarter to capture the win. Joey Battista led Valley Christian with a team-high 15 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Liberty 59, Newton Falls 30 – Demi Watson exploded for 24 points Friday night as the Leopards topped the Tigers with a 19-point win. Cianna Smith added 15 points and Aaliyah Foster chipped in 14 for Liberty. Natalee Albert led Newton Falls with 8 points.
