Maplewood’s Ainsley sets record
MECCA — Maplewood senior Gavin Ainsley set a state record Monday, scoring 12 goals in the Rockets’ 16-1 win over Pymatuning Valley.
The record was previously 11, set by Chad Johnston of Chardon in 2008.
Justin Daly of Hubbard, is tied for fourth all-time, scoring nine goals against Newton Falls in 2001.
The Rockets play Lordstown on Saturday at noon.
