BASEBALL

Boardman scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to rally past Howland, 6-5. Ty Ventresco was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs for the Spartans.

Brandon Mikos of South Range struck out 12 and led the Raiders with three hits in an 8-2 victory over Hubbard. The Raiders improved to 9-2 overall and 5-0 in the Northeast-8 Conference.

Mathews’ Ethan Petak collected four hits to help power the Mustangs (8-3) to a 13-8 victory over Fairport Harding.

SOFTBALL

Haleigh McCalla had 16 strikeouts for Springfield in a 3-0 pitcher’s duel victory over Waterloo.

McCalla had two hits, both of which were doubles, along with Emily Gerthung who had one double.

Four players for Mathews had two hits in a 15-1 win for the Mustangs (10-2) over Fairport.

Gianna Toto and Ella Vaupel each had a home run. Emma Gates, who threw eight strikeouts, also had four RBIs.

Bella Spano had two hits and three RBIs. Chloe Sweitzer had two hits and two RBIs.
