Springfield on to final; J-M stopped by Kennedy

¯ SPRINGFIELD 54, CHAMPION 41: NEW MIDDLETOWN — The top-seeded Tigers rode a 20-point fourth quarter to pull away from Champion in a Division III district semifinal matchup.

Alex Rothwell and Beau Brungard led Springfield (16-4) with 14 points each, Adam Wharry tacked on 13.

Champion’s season ends at 12-7. They were led by Austin Willforth, who had 19 points.

The Tigers advance to play the winner of tonight’s matchup between Pymatuning Valley and South Range in the district finals on Friday.

¯ KENNEDY 60, JACKSON-MILTON 44: WARREN — Mason Robison scored 20 points for the Blue Jays, but it wasn’t enough as J-M couldn’t keep up with the second-seeded Eagles. Robison was supported by Frank Prozy with 10 points and Cole Grope with eight.

Kennedy led 19-12 after one quarter, 36-23 at halftime and 46-39 after three quarters.
