Liberty wins again; Gamble has no-no
BASEBALL
WARREN — Liberty recorded its second 1-0 victory of the season with a shutout of John F. Kennedy. Starter Trevor Strohmeyer and reliever Anthony Patrone combined for the shutout, pitching four and three innings, respectively with four strikeouts each. The Leopards scored their lone run when Billy Kocher walked in the sixth inning with two outs, and an error on an outfielder led to Kocher scoring.
SOFTBALL
Columbiana freshman Mackenzi Gamble pitched a no-hitter for the Clippers in a win over Leetonia.
Gamble pitched seven innings, striking out 13 and allowed two runs both of which came from a wild pitch in the first inning.
After falling behind 2-1, Gamble hit a two-run homer to take a 3-2 lead. Tori Long and Gamble both had three hits on the afternoon.
