The COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc with the sports world, including the cancellation of an event that many took forward to each year, the Trumbull County Coaches Association boys and girls basketball Player of the Year banquet.

The event was scheduled for March 22. Since the voting had been completed before the event was canceled, it was determined that the awards still would be presented to the two winners.

The winners are determined by a vote of media members (print and television) who cover Trumbull County schools. Each school in the county was invited to nominate a senior boy and a senior girl.

The TCCA will present the Player of the Year trophies to the winners today, and they will conduct media interviews on Friday.
