Poland, South Range, Springfield notch wins

¯ POLAND 62, NILES 29: NILES — The visiting Bulldogs led just 23-18 at halftime before storming to a 20-3 scoring advantage in the third quarter to pull away.

Michael Cougras scored 16 points and Adam Kassem supplied 15 for Poland, which moved 14-6 overall and 10-4 in the NE-8.

The Red Dragons slipped to 3-16 overall and 2-11 in the league. They were led by Doug Foster’s 14 points.

¯ SOUTH RANGE 66, JEFFERSON 46: BEAVER TOWNSHIP — Chris Brooks poured in 29 points and 10 Raiders reached the scoring column as the hosts rolled past the Falcons to move to 12-7 overall and 7-6 in the NE-8.

Koby Cunningham had 18 points, all on 3-pointers, to lead Jefferson, whice fell to 5-8 in league play.

¯ SPRINGFIELD 70, MINERAL RIDGE 69: MINERAL RIDGE — The host Rams fell short of their upset bid against the Tigers in a MVAC contest.

Springfield overcame a 38-34 halftime deficit to take a 52-48 lead entering the final quarter en route to improving to 13-6 overall and 10-3 in the conference. Clay Medvec led five Tigers in double-digit scoring with 20 points. Beau Brungard added 13, Adam Wharry had 12, Evan Ohlin chipped in 11 and Drew Clark finished with 10.

The Rams used a 24-16 second-quarter splurge to attain the halftime lead. Miles Culp scored 20 points, Tristan Weiss and Koby Zupko scored 13 apiece and Austin Governor netted 11 for Mineral Ridge, which dipped to 8-12 and 5-9.

¯ KENNEDY 44, MOONEY 39: YOUNGSTOWN — The visiting Eagles outscored the Cardinals 22-8 in the fourth quarter to pull out the non-league win.

Kennedy trailed 31-22 entering the fourth quarter of the defensive struggle. Cam Hollobaugh scored 16 points and T.J. Harden supplied nine points, all ono 3-point makes, as the Eagles improved their ledger to 9-11.

Dev Jenkins scored 13 and Mike Pelini netted 11 for Mooney, which fell to 9-10.

¯ McDONALD 70, SEBRING 63: SEBRING — The visiting Blue Devils won a 3-point shooting contest against the Trojans.

McDonald made 21 field goals overall, 14 from 3-point range, while 10 of Sebring’s 24 field goals were from long distance.

The Blue Devils led 38-36 at halftime and 54-51 entering the fourth period. Zach Rasile scored 34 points and Eli Street added 19 for the Blue Devils, who increased their marks to 17-3 overall and 10-3 in the MVAC.

Dylan Johnson and Gabe Lanzer had 18 points apiece for the Trojans (14-6, 7-6).

¯ LOWELLVILLE 45, JACKSON-MILTON 34: NORTH JACKSON — Lowellville held the Blue Jays to four first-quarter points and never allowed them back in this Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference matchup.

Anthony Lucente scored seven of his game-high 16 in the opening quarter as the Rockets (10-11) took a 12-4 lead. Cole Bunofsky added 10 points for Lowellville, which allowed Jackson-Milton back in the game during the third quarter but sealed the victory at the free-throw line.

Cole Grope paced the Blue Jays (7-15) with nine points.

¯ LAKEVIEW 73, GIRARD 50: CORTLAND — Brendon Kilpatrick and Ryan Carnahan combined for 46 points and the host Bulldogs outscored the Indians 24-6 from the free-throw line in the Northeast-8 Conference contest.

Lakeview was 24-for-29 from the stripe while Girard attempted 12 free throws. Nate Fox added eight points for the hosts, who improved to 9-13 overall and 6-8 in the loop.

Christian Graziano scored 21 and Thomas Cardiero added 11 for Girard, which fell to 9-11 and 8-5.

¯ CHAMPION 65, LIBERTY 50: CHAMPION — The host Golden Flashes used a 16-10 scoring push in the third period to overcome a 30-29 halftime deficit and then ran away with a 20-9 socring advantage in the fourth period against the Leopards in an All-American Conference, Blue Tier tilt.

Nick Stahlman scored 18 points and Abe Bayus added 11 for Champion, which moved to 11-11 and 7-5 in league play. Brandon Dykes scored seven of his nine points in the fourth quarter.

Jameer Weaver scored 22 points and James Davis chipped in 10 for the Leopards, who sunk to 7-14 and 5-7.

¯ WATERLOO 76, WESTERN RESERVE 40: ATWATER — The host Vikings continue to flex their muscles, asw Vaughn Dorsey scored 21 points and Max Adelman added 19 in the win which moved their marks to 18-3 overall and 12-1 in the MVAC.

Noah Klasic scored 13 and Ryan Gordon netted 12 for the Blue Devils, whose record dipped to 6-14 and 3-9.

¯ NEWTON FALLS 63, CAMPBELL 40: NEWTON FALLS — The Tigers won the All-American Conference, Blue Tier title with a convincing win of the Red Devils.

Josh Honeycutt paced Newton Falls (18-3, 11-1 AAC Blue) with 20 points and 12 rebounds.

Cole Marquette added 14 points, while Adam Honeycutt put in 13.

Kevin Moore led Campbell (5-15, 2-10) with 13 points.
