Chaney boys beat Farrell; Poland, Struthers girls win

¯ CHANEY 66 FARRELL 43: YOUNGSTOWN — The Cowboys welcomed Farrell to Ohio and got a big win over the Steelers.

Quincy Jones scored a team-high 16 points. Sherrod Taylor scored 15 points, Travis Easterly scored 12 and Cameron Lawrence added 10.

Chaney held a slight advantage the whole game, but outscored Farrell 22-8 in the fourth quarter to pull away.

¯ POLAND 62, GIRARD 31: POLAND — Jackie Grisdale sank seven 3-pointers and scored a game-high 25 points as the Bulldogs clobbered Girard in a Northeast-8 Conference matchup.

Grisdale drilled six of her 3-pointers in the first half as Poland (14-2, 10-0) took a 34-17 lead. The Bulldogs put the game out of reach with a 21-4 advantage in the third quarter.

Marissa Cave led Girard (9-8) with eight points.

¯ STRUTHERS 61, JEFFERSON 29: STRUTHERS — Emma Elia poured in 31 points to lead Struthers to a Northeast-8 Conference rout. The Wildcats (9-6, 7-3 NE-8) led 13-18 after one quarter and 25-15 at halftime before Elia scored 11 points in a 19-8 third quarter to break the game open for Struthers.

Chloe Neider added 13 points for the winners.

¯ SOUTH RANGE 58, HUBBARD 34: HUBBARD — A dominant second half allowed South Range to break open a tie game and eventually roll past the Eagles in a Northeast-8 Conference clash.

The game was tied, 21-21, at halftime, but the Raiders (11-5) outscored Hubbard, 37-13, in the final two quarters to pull away. Lexi Giles scored 16 of her game-high 19 in the second half, while Izzy Lamparty added 11 of her 15 points. Bree Kohler kept the Raiders alfoat in the first half, registering nine of her 13.

Jackie Adler paced the Eagles (1-15) with 12 points, making all four of Hubbard’s 3-pointers.

¯ McDONALD 54, SPRINGFIELD 37: NEW MIDDLETOWN — McDonald stayed perfect in Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference play thanks to a solid defensive effort.

The Blue Devils (13-1, 10-0) held Springfield to six points in the second quarter and seven points in the third as they took a 37-25 lead. Molly Howard led the way with a game-high 21 points. Her sister, Maddy Howard, added 11.

Kylee Kosek (13 points) and Abby Joseph (11) powered the Tigers (7-9).

¯ JACKSON-MILTON 76, SEBRING 22: NORTH JACKSON — Twelve different players scored for Jackson-Milton in a Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference thrashing of Sebring.

Abby Spalding scored a game-high 24 points for the Blue Jays (8-6), who led 33-5 at halftime. Chelsea Williams added 12 points, and Grace McDevitt put in 10.

Hannah Bross registered eight points to lead the Trojans.

¯ COLUMBIANA 56, SALEM 50, OT: SALEM — Columbiana outscored the Quakers, 10-4, in overtime to pull off a non-conference victory.

The Clippers (11-3) led, 30-21, at halftime, but that lead disappeared in the third quarter, when Salem went on a 14-3 run to take a two-point lead. Columbiana’s Kaayla Moslovski scored seven of her 15 in the fourth to help the Clippers tie it, and she scored three points in the extra session. Tori Long led Columbiana in overtime with four points. She had 14 for the game.

Kyla Jamison of Salem (7-7) led all scorers with 26 points.

¯ WATERLOO 43, LOWELLVILLE 32: ATWATER — A fast start gave the Vikings the cushion it needed in a MVAC victory over Lowellville.

Waterloo went up 15-8 after 8 minutes, and the Vikings’ defense helped them hold on. Haylee Kachner paced Waterloo with 11 points.

Lowellville (3-11) couldn’t catch up from the seven-point deficit, scoring just 11 second-half points. Savannah Procick scored a game-high 12 points.

¯ LISBON 46, LEETONIA 44: LEETONIA — Lisbon’s Bryanna VanGiesen hit a game-winning 3-pointer with 20 seconds left as the Blue Devils overcame a six-point, fourth-quarter deficit to win an Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference rivalry.

Lisbon trailed, 35-29, enterin the fourth quarter, but they outscored Leetonia, 17-9, to pull off the win. Izzy Perez led all scorers with 19 points. She also had four asssists. VanGiesen scored 13 points.

Taran Ferry registered a team-best 14 points for the Bears (8-7). Anna Buffone added 10 points and three rebounds.

¯ EAST PALESTINE 64, SOUTHERN 28: SALINEVILLE — Joclyn Fristik scored 30 points for the Bulldogs in a big win over Southern.

Fristik’s 30 points was a game-high and was followed by Paige Snyder who scored 12.

East Palestine held the Indians to seven points in the first half.
