The White Sox got in position to open the scoring in the bottom of the third inning.
Colson Montgomery singled, Chase Meidroth doubled and Miguel Vargas walked to load the bases with one out. Guardians starter Parker Messick forced home a run when he walked Munataka Murakami.

Sam Antonacci extended Chicago's lead to 2-0 on a sacrifice fly to right-center field, but Armstrong got a lineout to end the inning and limit the damage.
