A reported accident has Cardinal Mooney High School focused on a student-athlete and led to schedule changes at the school.
On Tuesday, 21 WFMJ-TV reported that a boys soccer player is on life support after an ATV accident on Sunday.
Cardinal Mooney Principal Patrick Kiraly released a statement announcing the cancellation of Tuesday's boys soccer home game against Central Christian. Additionally, the school's homecoming dance was rescheduled to Oct. 17 and the Prospective Parents Night was pushed to Oct. 21.
"Our Cardinal Mooney community is walking through a very difficult time, we are leaning on our faith, on one another, and on the strength of the community," Kiraly said in the statement. "We ask that you continue to lift up in prayer those at the center of our hearts right now, especially a beloved member of our Mooney Family and those who love him most.
"Our school chaplain and Alta counselors are available in the school to support our students and staff during this difficult time."
The Cardinals already had a week off after Tuesday. If the schedule remains unchanged, they will host Open Door Christian on Oct. 6 before traveling to play Ursuline on Oct. 8.
A request for clarification from Cardinal Mooney Athletic Director Toni Chahine regarding the identity of the student was not returned by print deadline.
