Pluchinsky, Zines win adult Greatest Golfer titles

At this point, it might be time to rename the Greatest Golfer title after Brandon Pluchinsky.
The former Youngstown State star took home his eighth consecutive and 10th overall Greatest Golfer title during the finals of the men's open division on Sunday at The Lake Club.
Pluchinsky shot 7-under 65 during the first round on Friday at Pine Lakes, then followed that up with an 8-under 64 on Saturday at Avalon Lakes.
His 15-under 129 total gave him an eight-stroke lead heading into Sunday's final round at The Lake Club, where he shot a 1-under 69 to finish at 16-under for an eight-stroke victory over Ryan Sam and Garrett Frank.
Current YSU junior and Hanoverton native Matilyn Zines captured her first adult Greatest Golfer title, winning the ladies No. 1 flight division with an eight-stroke win at 1-under.
She shot even-par 72 in the first round on Friday at Old Avalon, 3-under 69 on Saturday in the second round at Trumbull Country Club and finished things off with a 1-over 71 on Sunday at The Lake Club. Zines beat out Allexis Sallee, who finished at 7-over for the three rounds.
Zines won the Greatest Golfer juniors title in 2024 before she went on to join the Penguins.
Jim Maynard won the title in the seniors open division by three strokes over Robert Gintert, finishing at 8-over after three rounds.
