Area athletes land on all-state baseball and softball teams

With the spring sports season over, the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association and the Ohio High School Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association released their respective 2026 all-state teams.

The teams were voted on by members of their respective organizations.

SOFTBALL

There was only one Division I softball team in the area this year, but it had plenty of representation.

Austintown Fitch had a pair end up on the first team in Division I. Senior infielder Abby Toth and freshman pitcher Mila Hamley both got on the top squad. Fellow Falcon Kaliana Ray, a junior, made second team as an outfielder.

In Division III, Howland junior outfielder Madison Schmitz landed on second team. And All-American Conference foe Boardman had sophomore catcher Addie Rudge get honorable mention.

Down in Division V, Poland catcher Leanna Boccieri got first-team honors. Northeast 8 rival South Range had a pair receive honorable mention, with infielder Keira Brogan and Solena DeJesus making the cut.

As for Division VI, McDonald junior Aubrey Evans was placed on first team as a pitcher. Rival Mineral Ridge saw Maddie Gerberry named to second team as an outfielder, and LaBrae junior Riley Rowe also was on the second team as a pitcher. Rowe’s teammate, Shelby Bragg, received honorable mention as an infielder.

In Division VII, Maplewood sophomore pitcher Addison Marker took home first-team recognition, along with Chalker pitcher Tatum Hudak. The second team featured Jackson-Milton infielder Katie Byers and Maplewood infielder Claire Urchek.

BASEBALL

Canfield pitcher Ryan Weibling received Division III first-team honors, and teammate Anthony Groner made second team as an outfielder.

In Division IV, Cardinal Mooney got a pair on the second team, with third baseman Taco Verocco and outfielder Kaden Reese making the list. Mooney pitcher Ford Stacy, outfielder Johnny Brenner and utility man Ben Oddis also received honorable mention. Hubbard’s Braydon Songer was one of two first-team utility players, and West Branch’s Jeremiah Thomas received honorable mention as an outfielder.

For Division V, Garrettsville Garfield’s Brandon Bogucki made second team as a shortstop.

As for Division VI, Columbiana’s Avery Young was a first-team shortstop. LaBrae’s Landon Brunstetter was named second team as a pitcher and teammate Austin Rowe got honorable mention as a shortstop. Western Reserve first baseman Blake Welch also got honorable mention.
