BASEBALL

Lakeview 12, Warren G. Harding 0 — The Bulldogs racked up 12 hits in their shutout win over the Raiders. Brandon Toot led Lakeview with three hits, which included a double, while Jacob Shaker batted in three runs off two hits. Hayden Newton also had two hits and two RBIs for the Bulldogs, as Blake Swinning threw nine strikeouts in a complete-game shutout. Da’Rone Pennock had Harding’s only hit of the day.

South Range 15, Niles 0 — South Range’s Stanley Magielski pitched four strikeouts and three walks, while allowing three hits in a complete-game shutout over the Red Dragons. Ten different players had hits for the Raiders, led by two hits and an RBI from Julian Tranovich. Jimmy Hagan also had a home run and four runs batted in. Vincent Dennis, Brian Parsons Jr. and Giovanne Merlo each had a base hit for Niles.

Middlefield Cardinal 5, Badger 3 — A fast start with five runs in the first two innings helped Cardinal down the Braves. Lewis Flowers, Tyler McWilliams and Jack Harnett each finished with two hits for Badger, as Harnett batted in two runs. K. Strever had two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs for the Huskies, while also picking up the win on the mound, pitching 11 strikeouts and one walk.

LaBrae 4, Warren JFK 2 — The Vikings scored all four of their runs in the third inning, as Landon Brunstetter had a pair of hits, including a triple, and an RBI. John Kinkade and Gavin Gee combined for a two-hit effort on the mound with five strikeouts and six walks. Brennen Sanata and Dylan Sforza had JFK’s only two hits, while Lucas Morrison had an RBI.

Cardinal Mooney 14, Howland 4 — The Cardinals converted 14 hits into 14 runs, while the Tigers also had nine hits. Ryan Reese had three hits and two RBIs to pace Mooney, while Luke Kollar, John Brenner, Ben Oddis and Taco Verocco each also had a pair of hits. Verocco finished with three RBIs, as Kollar, Todd Jones and Jacob Gugliotta each finished with two. Terri Werner led Howland with three hits and two RBIs, and Richie Ansel and Keaton Perry each added a pair of hits.

Brookfield 4, Garfield 3 — Despite four errors, the Warriors outhit the G-Men for the victory. Blake Coleman and Devin Reardon each had two of Brookfield’s nine hits. Joe Hook got the win on the mound in a complete-game outing. Brandyn Bogucki had two hits, Brock Pesicek had two RBIs and Nathan Bacsk had three hits for the G-Men.

Poland 11, Struthers 1 — An eight-run scoring outburst in the third inning helped the Bulldogs put away the Wildcats. For Poland, Carmine Tukalo had a home run and three RBIs, as Aiden Perry had two hits. Seven others had a base hit for the Bulldogs, as Grady Pitzulo earned the win on the mound with six strikeouts and one walk. Max Donatelli led Struthers with a pair of hits.

Mathews 14, Bristol 5 — A hot start in the first inning with six runs helped carry the Mustangs past the Panthers. Caleb Nicula picked up the win with seven strikeouts and one walk, while also finishing with two hits and two RBIs, including a triple. Kam Kester and Colton Kish also had two hits, while Jake Petak had three. Jonas Miller, Ethan Kimak and Grant Roach had two hits apiece for Bristol, while MIller also had two runs batted in.

SOFTBALL

Cardinal Mooney 5, Conotton Valley 3 — The Cardinals broke a deadlock in the fifth inning with a pair of runs to hold off Conotton Valley. Justice Paris and Alexis McKinstry combined in the circle for 11 strikeouts and one walk in the winning effort. McKinstry also had a home run and finished with two hits and two RBis. Six other players tallied a hit, which included doubles from Paris, Grace Rinaldi and Angela Bettura.

Niles 11, Liberty 0 — Freshman Julie Burke threw a no-hitter with nine strikeouts as the Red Dragons blanked the Leopards. Freshman Mia Myers hit two inside-the-park home runs to finish with three hits and three RBIs. Lydiah Taylor, Addison Martin and Airie Jones each also contributed a pair of hits, while Caroline Cormell had two runs batted in. Danelle Coleman picked up the loss for Liberty.

Champion 6, Howland 5 (9 innings) — After heading to extras tied 4-4, the Golden Flashes walked it off in the bottom of the ninth. Adalyn McIntosh got the win in the circle with seven strikeouts and three walks, while also racking up three hits and an RBI. Ava Sylvester also had two hits for Champion, as Maddie Sylvester had two RBIs. Madison Schmitz went a perfect 4-for-4 with a home run and two runs batted in. Three others recorded a hit fof the Tigers.

Poland 1, McDonald 0 — Bulldogs freshman Ali Blinsky got the best of McDonald’s Aubrey Evans in a pitcher’s duel. Poland’s lone run of the day came in the bottom of the first inning on a solo shot homer by Leanna Boccieri. Blinsky struck out 10 with three walks, while only giving up two hits. Evans finished with 15 strikeouts and four walks on two hits allowed.

Austintown Fitch 16, Tallmadge 0 — The Falcons stayed unbeaten (16-0) by dominating perennial power Tallmadge with 15 hits, as Mila Hamley got the win in the circle with eight strikeouts. Kaliana Ray led Fitch with three hits, while Kylie Folkwein had a home run and three runs batted in. Annabel Mikesell also had three hits and four RBIs.

Brookfield 2, West Middlesex (Pa.) 0 — Two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning were the difference in this border clash. The Warriors got two hits and an RBI from Alana Jervis, as Madison Obermiyer earned the win with four strikeouts and a walk, while allowing two hits in seven innings. Lila Kimmel and Abigail Geiwitz each had a hit for the Big Reds.

Lakeview 14, Canfield 9 — Mackenzie Stowe powered the Bulldogs’ offensive explosion with two home runs and seven RBIs against the Cardinals. Lakeview racked up 17 hits, while Canfield had 13. Like Stowe, Rylee Barnot also had three hits with an RBI for the Bulldogs, while Paige Schwartz, Ava Neilan and Jianna Shaker each finished with a pair of hits. Shaker and Neilan combined for five RBIs. Kitt Testa was a perfect 4-for-4 with an RBI for the Cardinals, while Jenna Triveri had two hits and three RBIs and Sofia Castronova had a pair of hits. Leah FIgueroa also blasted a home run for Canfield.

Maplewood 7, Pymatuning Valley 2 — The Rockets put up 13 hits in their 20th victory of the season. Six players had two hits for Maplewood, including Addison Marker, Claire Urchek, Lexi Yannucci, Raegan Krieg, Lauran Krieg and Kaycee Hyde. Raegan Krieg finished with three RBIs, while Yannucci had two, as Marker earned the victory in the circle by putting up 16 strikeouts with no walks. Peyton Hudson had a home run for the Lakers and led PV with two hits.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Howland 3, Warren G. Harding 0 — The Tigers earned their second victory over the Raiders this week 25-17, 25-12 and 25-21. Wesley Fee had nine kills, two blocks and nine digs, Nicholas Caesar had three kills, two blocks and three aces, Evan Neely had 10 assists, Freddie Rivera had nine digs and Philip Rullo had four assists. No Harding stats were submitted.

BOYS LACROSSE

Boardman 18, Southeast 0 — The Spartans bounced back from a tough loss on Tuesday to blank the Pirates. Eight different players scored for Boardman. Chase Zelesnak and Luke DeJoseph led the Spartans with four goals each, as Zelesnak added three assists. CJ Rice had a hat trick, Danile Ramovs and Kyle Congson each had two goals and Tanner Dravecky, Liam Moore and Tyler Holcomb had one goal each.
