BASEBALL
South Range 15, Girard 4 (5 inn.) — South Range started the day with nine runs in the bottom of the first and five more in the second. Julian Tranovich hit three doubles in three at-bats with five RBIs and a run scored. Drew Starkey doubled with two RBIs and a run scored and Will Gehring doubled with an RBI and scored twice. Tranovich was credited with the win by allowing four runs on two hits and six walks in four innings on the mound, while striking out seven. For Girard, Bobby Levonyak doubled with an RBI and two runs scored, and Pierson Ginocchi singled with an RBI. Cameron Herrick took the loss. He gave up nine runs – eight earned – on five hits and seven walks in only an inning.
Ursuline 7, Massillon 6 — The Fighting Irish scored four runs in the top of the sixth to return to town with a victory. Rowan Urbach was 2-for-3, including a home run, with four RBIs and two runs scored. Dom Monroe finished 3-for-3, including a double, with two runs scored, GianLuca Aurillo had a hit and two RBIs and Jack Gocala finished with two hits. Harrison DeLuca gave up four runs – one earned – on five hits, punching out a pair in four innings as the starter. Urbach got the win following two shutout innings of relief, when he struck out two and allowed one hit and a walk.
Poland 13, Niles 8 — Zach Marantis doubled and homered with three RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Bulldogs. David Vlosich also homered and doubled as he joined Aiden Perry and Joe Zuccaro as two-RBI performers. Stephen Kopkash got the win by striking out seven and allowing two runs on four hits and four walks in 5 2/3 innings of work. For the Red Dragons, Brixton Gilmour had a hit, three RBIs and a run scored, Anthony Mymo doubled with two RBIs and Joseph Lehman singled and walked twice as he came across three times. Lehman took the loss after giving up eight runs – five earned – on eight hits and two walks in three innings pitched.
Maplewood 4, Bristol 3 — Trailing 3-2, the Rockets scored a run in the top of the sixth and seventh innings to complete the comeback. The Rockets were led by Zach Suba, who doubled with two RBIs. Kenyan Clover was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, Gabe Erwin had a hit with an RBI and a run scored and Cole Urchek singled with an RBI. Jonas Miller doubled, drove in two runs and scored once to lead the Panthers. Preston Cooper got the complete-game win after giving up three runs – only two earned – on five hits and three walks, while striking out four. Lavern Miller took the loss after allowing two runs on four hits and three walks, striking out five in six innings pitched.

Canfield 5, Holy Name 0 — The Cardinals extended their winning streak to seven as Will Murphy and Joey Gabriel combined for a three-hitter. Murphy allowed all three hits and a walk, but he struck out 11 in 5 1/3 innings of work. Gabriel gave up a walk and struck out three in 1 2/3 innings. Anthony Groner went 2-for-3 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored. Michael Maszczak doubled with an RBI and a run scored, Gabriel singled with an RBI and scored once and Logan Patellis doubled.
SOFTBALL
Maplewood 6, Cardinal 0 — The Rockets continued to roll as they improved to 21-1 following a one-hitter from Lexi Yannucci. The freshman struck out 12 and walked four in a complete game. Claire Urchek was 3-for-4, including a triple, with an RBI and three runs scored. Yannucci helped her own cause with a 2-for-2 effort, an RBI and a run scored. Samantha Krieg singled with an RBI, Lauran Krieg drove in a run, and Raegan Krieg and Addison Marker each had a hit.
South Range 18, Niles 1 (5 inn.) — The Raiders scored all of their runs in the first two innings, with 11 coming in the first. Sophia Brogan powered the Raiders’ lineup with a 3-for-3 day, including a double and a home run, with five RBIs and three runs scored. Anna Aey added two hits, three RBIs and a run scored, Addison Wardle finished with a hit, two RBIs and a run scored and Alana Thompson tallied two hits and two RBIs. For Niles, Julie Burke doubled, Giselle Herrara had an RBI and Larkin Stanford scored the lone run. Airie Jones took the loss after surrendering 18 runs – 13 earned – on 15 hits and six walks in two innings. Ashley Rupert got the win after giving up one unearned run on two walks and striking out four in two hitless innings pitched.
Champion 12, Garrettsville Garfield 1 (5 inn.) — The Golden Flashes scored all their runs in the first three innings. Ava Sylvester finished with three hits, including a home run, and four RBIs for the Flashes. Josie Perhach also had three hits, including a double, with three RBIs. Jonna Strock doubled twice with two RBIs, and Olivia Bailey had a single and a double, Maddy Seiler singled twice, Angel Grace doubled and Abby Pattinson drove in two. Carly Dyer struck out six and walked four in the win, and Garfield’s Olivia Bailey was handed the loss after fanning five and walking four.
Poland 17, Struthers 5 (5 inn.) — Struthers plated two runs in the top of the first inning, but Poland answered with 12 runs in the bottom half of the inning and never looked back. Emma Boccieri led Poland with three hits, including a double, for three RBIs. Leanna Boccieri and Cassie Blanch each had two hits, with Boccieri finishing with a two-run double and Blanch ending with four RBIs. Senior Addison Draa also had three RBIs, and Ali Blinshky had a two-run single. Madison Medvec picked up the win after going four innings and allowing only one hit and one run while striking out eight. Riley Guy took the loss in the circle for Struthers, giving up one hit, five walks and six runs in the first inning. For Struthers, Emily McDowell doubled with two RBIs, and Giavanna Smiley, Vivian Marker and Alina Dilullo had the other hits.

United 17, Columbiana 7 (6 inn.) — United scored in five of the six innings, with each productive inning leading to at least two runs. Kyla Hogan went 3-for-3, including a double, with three RBIs and a run scored for the Clippers. Ella Eisenbraugh doubled with three RBIs, Josie Hepler went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and Brooke McKim added a single with an RBI and a run scored. Eisenbraugh took the loss. She fanned a pair and allowed 10 runs – six earned – on six hits and three walks in 2 2/3 innings in the circle.
