BASEBALL

Cardinal Mooney 8, Canfield 6 — Johnny Brenner had a pair of hits, including a triple and drove in three runs for Mooney. Andrew Bushey drove in a run with a pair of hits and Ben Oddis had a hit and two RBIs. Joey Gabriel struck out five and had a hit and RBI for Canfield. Jake Dovich led the Cardinals with three hits and an RBI. Anthony Groner and Logan Patellis added a hit and RBI each.

Warren JFK 6, Ursuline 1 — Brennen Sanata led JFK with two hits and an RBI. Lucas Mealy added a triple and RBI for the Eagles. Mealy also struck out seven on the bump. Andrew LaPolla added two hits including a triple. L. Stroney had two hits, including a double for Ursuline.

Poland 7, St. John 1 — Grady Pitzulo and Owen McKenzie had two doubles and an RBI each for Poland. David Vlosich added a hit and an RBI for the Bulldogs. C. Beck led St. John with two hits, including a double.

Mathews 7, Maplewood 4 — Jimmy Pegg and Jake Petak had two hits and two RBIs each for Mathews. Kam Kester, Jared Pegg and Colton Kish added two hits each for Mathews. Zach Suba had three hits for Maplewood and Kenyon Clover drove in two runs.

Newton Falls 5, Heartland Christian 2 — LeLand Vargo had 15 strikeouts to lead Newton Falls. Tyler Stinson had a two run double in the bottom of the sixth inning for the Tigers to break a 2-2 tie. Hunter Persin and Jacob Dowling had a pair of hits each. Jacob Morgan, Jacob Goehring and Brennan Murray had a hit each for Heartland Christian.

From Wednesday

Columbiana 20, Southern 0 — Ethan Lehnerd threw a five inning no hitter, striking out 10 for Columbiana. Legnerd and Avery Young had two hits and drove in three runs each for the Clippers. Liam McElwain drove in four runs with a pair of hits and Beckett Wilson and Hunter Devanzo combined for four hits and five RBIs with Wilson driving in three runs.

SOFTBALL

Girard 20, Warren G. Harding 0 — Chloe Plant struck out nine in five innings and had two hits and drove in two runs for Girard. Six different players had multi-hit games for Girard, led by Gianna Saxon with four hits and five RBIs. Caylee Wilkes added four hits, including a pair of doubles and Ava Serrano homered and doubled, driving in four runs. Quinn WIlster drove in three runs with three hits and Riley Collins had two hits and drove in three runs for the Indians.

South Range 7, Hubbard 2 — K. Brogan had a triple, double and single, driving in three runs for South Range. S. Brogan had a hit and two RBIs and S. DeJesus had three hits for the Raiders. Hayiiegh Taylor led Hubbard with a home run, double and six strikeouts.

Maplewood 6, United 0 — Addison Marker was dominant again, striking out 14 for Maplewood. Raegan Krieg drove in two runs with a hit and Lexi Yannuicci had a hit and RBI. Claire Urchek led the Rockets with three hits.

Lakeview 3, Tallmadge 2 — Mackenzie Stowe had two hits including a home run and drove in two runs to lead Lakeview. Ella Collins added a hit and RBI for the Bulldogs. Jianna Shaker struck out five. K. Staszak led Tallmadge with three hits and an RBI.

Austintown Fitch 19, Massillon 7 — Fitch (15-0) kept rolling with yet another high scoring offensive outing. Kaliana Ray led the Falcons with a grand slam. Abby Toth added a grand slam and a single and Kylie Folkwein homered and drove in two runs. Morgan Roby also drove in two runs on two hits for Fitch.

Canfield 16, Poland 2 — Canfield led 13-0 in the second inning and Poland couldn’t bounce back. The Cardinals were led by Leah Figueroa who smashed a pair of home runs and drove in five runs. Jenna Triveri added three hits and Kit Testa knocked one out of the park. Brooke O’Palick drove in two runs with a double and Sami Economos drove in three runs. Madison Medvec had two hits to lead Poland.

Chalker 18, Bristol 4 — Tatum Hudak had two hits, including a home run and drove in five runs for Chalker. Riley Ashcraft had a double and triple with two RBIs and struck out seven. Katelyn Cook also hit a home run, totaling two hits and driving in three runs. Bailey Ann Bussey also had a pair of hits and three RBIs for the Wildcats. Korie Kennedy had a hit and RBI for Bristol.

Mathews 12, Struthers 9 — Sare Geilhard had three hits and two RBIs, including a home run for Mathews. Rilee Paddock added four hits and drove in three runs and Sydnie Nelson was the winning pitcher for the Mustangs. Livy Tarr added two hits and two RBIs.
