OHSAA updates football divisions
Several local high school football teams will be in a different divisions starting during the 2026 season after the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) announced changes Thursday.
The changes include Salem moving up from Division IV to Division III; Poland moving up from Division V to Division IV; South Range and Champion moving down from Division V to Division VI; Warren JFK, Lisbon David Anderson and East Palestine moving up from Division VII to Division VI; and Springfield moving down from Division VI to Division VII.
Game Changers registration closing soon
Game Changers’ Sports Leadership Tour, an experience designed to help student-athletes build identity, opportunity and direction beyond competition, is set to arrive in Youngstown on April 28 before moving on to Cleveland the following day, the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton on April 30 and at The Ohio State University on May 11.
Throughout each day, students will engage directly with executives, entrepreneurs and performance leaders who have built careers on the field, as well as in the front office, corporate spaces, and professional development arenas.
Featured speakers include Celeste Ball, Mike Adams, Dr. Maurice Thornton, Jarvis Hall and Chris Curd.
Attendance is limited. No walk-ins will be accepted. To register, visit WeAreGC.org. Registration closes Sunday at 7 p.m.
Curbstone HOF tickets on sale
Plans are underway for the 57th annual Curbstone Coaches Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which is set for May 3 at Mr. Anthony’s in Boardman. The keynote speaker will be former Pittsburgh Steelers standout wide receiver Louis Lipps.
Tickets are now available by contacting Patty Schuley at (330) 207-8157. This year’s event is sponsored by Briarfield Health Care Centers and Ed and Diane Reese.
The cost of each ticket is $60 and $480 for a table of eight.
