Rhodes, Ryan headline All-State teams
The first batch of All-Ohio girls basketball teams were released on Monday. The Division IV, V, VI and VII were the first to be revealed.
The Mahoning Valley had two receive first-team honors, as Crestview senior Addison Rhodes got on the top team in Division V and Warren JFK’s Didi Ryan was a first-teamer in Division VII.
In Division IV, West Branch freshman Madi Hoopes was named to the second team. Salem junior Abby Knickerbocker and Hubbard junior Chloe Cicero received special mention, and West Branch junior Audrey Eaton and Lakeview senior Kalyssa Werner both got honorable mention.
In addition to Rhodes, Division V had Garrettsville Garfield’s Mandy Cardinal on the second team. Girard junior Caylee Wilkes landed special mention honors, and Pymatuning Valley junior McKenna Jordan, LaBrae junior Riley Rowe and Poland freshman Briella Rowe each received honorable mention.
Division VI had several area players scattered between special mention and honorable mention. Grand Valley’s Cloe Turk and Riley Rowland joined Mineral Ridge junior Sullivan Sandy on special mention, and the Rams and Mustangs also had senior Gianna Gilbert and sophomore Bre Rowland receive honorable mention, respectively.
Division VII had the most local representation.
In addition to Ryan, JFK senior Gianna Pompelia got on the second team and Western Reserve senior Quincy Miller was named to the third team. Maplewood senior Morgan Himes was the lone local to get special mention, and Western Reserve senior Kylee Ramsey, Jackson-Milton junior Amani Yasin, Badger junior Riley Thomas, Bristol junior Lauren Church and Chalker senior Abby Grimm each received honorable mention.
