SOFTBALL
LaBrae 11, Brookfield 5 — Mariah Jones had two home runs and a double and drove in five runs for LaBrae. Shelby Bragg also had three hits for the Vikings and drove in two runs. Riley Rowe struck out nine and had one hit on offense. Luciana Kolat totaled three hits and an RBI to lead Brookfield.
Girard 15, United 5 — Girard trailed 4-1 before breaking the game open with a 14-run fourth inning. Quinn Wilster led the attack with four hits and two RBIs. Brooklyn Broll also came up big for the Indians with a pair of hits and RBIs. Josie Wargo had three hits for United.
Howland 5, Louisville 3 — Howland scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to battle back from a 3-2 deficit. The Tigers offense was led by Ella Newbrough, who drove in three runs and had a hit. Brooklyn VanNess and Madison Schmitz had two hits each, with VanNess driving in a run. Makenna Perry pitched a complete game and struck out eight for Howland.
Cardinal Mooney 18, Warren G. Harding 1 — Angela Bettura had a hit and two RBIs to lead the Mooney offense and she scored four runs. Audrina Jablonski and Grace Rinaldi drove in two runs and had a hit each. Justice Paris struck out 12 for the Cardinals. Alyssa Frost had a hit and an RBI for Harding.
Jefferson 10, Maplewood 6 — Jefferson trailed 4-0 entering the fourth inning before taking over the game. Ada Sirrine led the Falcons with three RBIs and a hit. Eleigh Donathan added two hits, including a triple, and two RBIs. Addison Marker led Maplewood with two hits and two RBIs, and Samantha Krieg added two hits and one RBI for the Rockets. Marker also had 12 strikeouts in the circle.
Austintown Fitch 10 Berea Midark 0 — Fitch (1-0) picked up its first win of the season behind a strong performance from Kylie Folkwein, who hit a solo home run and combined for nine strike outs with Mila Hamley in the circle. Alyssa Rodgers added three hits and three RBIs, including a homerun, and Abby Toth also drove in two runs with a single and a home run.
Springfield 11, Jackson-Milton 1 — Springfield scored seven runs in the third inning to break a tight game open. Kensley Schrode struck out eight for Springfield and didn’t walk a batter. Gracie Maldonado and Kensley Schrode had two hits and two runs each. Brooklyn Chachko also came up big with two hits and three RBIs for the Tigers.
Poland 13, Niles 1 — Niles opened with a 1-0 lead with a double by Arie Jones. Leanna Boccierri recorded her 100th career hit before Ali Blinsky knocked her in to tie it at 1. Poland pulled away after that, scoring five runs in the second inning and never looking back. Boccierri totaled three hits, two of them being doubles, and drove in two runs. Cassie Blanch hit a three-run home run and had a double with four RBIs. Also coming up big for the Bulldogs was Avery Jakubovic with two hits and two RBIs.
Mathews 24, Lordstown 1 — The Mustang bats were hot to start the season. Rilee Paddock led the way with a 3-for-4 performance with two doubles, a home run and five RBIs. Sara Geilhard had three hits, including a double, and two RBIs, Liz Rohan had two doubles and two singles with three RBIs, Marina Eagle finished with three hits, including a triple, with two RBIs and Livy Tarr ended the night with three hits and two driven in for the Mustangs (1-0). Molly Woodall earned the win by striking out three in a complete game.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Howland 3, Nordonia 0 — Howland swept Nordonia 25-15, 25-15, 25-22, and was led by Wesley Fee with 10 kills and two blocks. Evan Feeley assisted 22 times for the Tigers, and Nicholas Caesar had nine kills. Freddie Rivera had eight service points with two aces and nine digs.

Louisville 3, Howland 0 — Howland (4-1) lost in straight sets 26-24, 25-16, 25-16. Carter Jones had six kills for the Tigers, and Wesley Fee added five. Evan Neely recorded 12 assists.
