Northeast 4
Newton Falls 36, St. John 15 — The Tigers advanced to the sectional final with a one-sided win. Madison Davis scored nine points with 11 rebounds for the Tigers (8-15). Newton Falls will go to Dalton on Thursday.
Regular Season
Howland 50, Kenston 42 — In a game tied at 33 headed into the fourth quarter, Howland used a strong fourth-quarter performance to pull away. Mia Thomas led the Tigers with 12 points. The Howland trio of Maya Kubancsek, Grace Corley and Talia Rishel added 10 points each. Kenston was led by Morgan Cicek with 18 points and Kaitence Paystrup with 10 points.
Badger 38, Bristol 33 — Brinley Rice scored 21 points and knocked down four 3-pointers to lead Badger. Cadence Imhoff led Bristol with 10 points.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Boardman 44, Green 39 — The Spartans snapped a four-game losing streak with the win. Jayse Varley led the way for Boardman (6-14) with 21 points, and Jerry Smith added seven. David Szarnicki was Green’s top scorer with 19 points.
Lordstown 58, Academy for Urban Scholars 35 — Ganon Force scored 18 for Lordstown. Jonah Force added 12 and Colton Hickman scored 10 for the Devils. The Urban Scholars was led by L. Henderson with 14 points and X. Jones with 10.
Brookfield 56, Mathews 49 — Joe Hook knocked down three 3-pointers and scored 15 overall to lead Brookfield. Rob Flynn added 10 for the Warriors. Jake Petak had a game-high 18 points to lead Mathews. Anthony Marinkovich added 14 for the Mustangs.
South Range 65, Beaver Local 50 — Gavin Hiscox led the way for South Range with 18 points. Tommy Titus and Nick Toy added 17 points each for the Raiders in a strong outing. Matthew Anderson led Beaver Local with 18 points and Peyton Cowdery had 11.
Newton Falls 63, Mineral Ridge 58 — In a matchup that was tied at 24 at halftime, Newton Falls pulled away, led by Phil Davis with 22 points. Nine of his points came in the final quarter. Dallas Dunlap lit it up from long range for the Tigers, hitting five 3-pointers and scoring 17 overall. Chase Moore was the game’s leading scorer, pouring in 25 for Mineral Ridge. Landon Bingham added 12 for the Rams.
Salem 66, Girard 57 — Ty Manion led Salem with 26 points. Weston mango added 12 points, including three 3-pointers for the Quakers. For Girard, Braxton Sloan had a game-high 30 points, including five 3-pointers.
Warren G. Harding 68, Warren JFK 31 — Xavier Clark led Harding with 22 points. Tyler Smith added 14 points for the Raiders, and Myles Miller was also in double figures with 12 points. Preston Geracitano led JFK with 20 points.
Canfield 52, Austintown Fitch 48 — Canfield trailed 36-32 entering the final quarter, but stormed back, led by Bryce Roberts who scored eight of his 20 points in the fourth. Joey Gabriel also came up big, scoring five of his 13 points in the fourth quarter. Jace Riccardo was also in double digits with 10 points. For Fitch, EJ Giles led with 16 points.
Badger 52, Bristol 46 — Jack Harnett scored 15 to lead Badger. Lewis Flowers added 11 and Tyler McWilliams had 10 for the Braves. Parker Gall led Bristol with 13 points. Logan Briggs and Colt Berry added 12 points each for the Panthers.
Cardinal Mooney 41, Valley Christian 31 — Dante Turner scored 15 points and Grayson Dubos added 10 to lead Mooney. Deion Miller and Hammond had 10 points each for Valley Christian.
St. Vincent-St. Mary 61, Ursuline 48 — DeCarlo Prince led St. Vincent-St. Mary with 21 points. For Ursuline, Noah Bell had a game-high 29 points with a pair of 3-pointers. Jaylen Gunther scored 12 for the Irish, setting the Ursuline single season scoring record.
