BOYS BASKETBALL
Garrettsville Garfield 60, Liberty 58 — Garfield erased a 30-26 halftime deficit, led by Parker Gill with 19 points. Collin Mcagranahan added four 3-pointers and 17 overall. Ramsey Hadi-Cox scored 19 to lead Liberty.
West Branch 55, Minerva 51 OT — Jeremiah Thomas had 28 points, eight assists, four rebounds, and three steals for West Branch. Gavin Gregory added 10 for the Warriors, who outscored Minerva 12-9 in overtime. Hoffee had 16 to lead Minerva.
Newton Falls 81, Crestview 50 — Phil Davis poured in a game high 28 to lead Newton Falls. Davis scored 13 in the second quarter alone. Dallas and Mason Dillon added nine points each for the Tigers. Caleb Gaydon led Crestview with 12 points and Elijah Cope added 12 for the Rebels.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Mineral Ridge 48, Girard 38 — Sullivan Sandy led Ridge with 23 points. Kadence Conway added 10 points. For Girard, Ally Gassman had 13 points and Caylee Wilkes scored 12.
Lowellville 40, Valley Christian 31 — McKenna Lewis scored 14 points to lead Lowellville. Gianna Palimbo added 11 for the Rockets. Aliyah Underwood scored 11 to lead Valley Christian.
Ursuline 53, Salem 35 — Maizy Green had a game high 20 points for Ursuline, including four 3-pointers. Kennedy Carpenter (11) and Kenyah Gill (10) also reached double figures for the Irish. Ryann Vross led Salem with 11 points and knocked down a pair of 3-pointers.
Poland 52, Cardinal Mooney 20 — Briella Rowe, Brooklyn Kosco, and Leanna Boccieri led a balanced Poland offense with eight points each. Julia Diorio led Salem with six points.
Canfield 55, Canton GlenOak 38 — Sophia Castronova led Canfield with 15 points and seven rebounds. Carly Fleming also had a strong performance with 12 points and eight rebounds. Ceci Muckelroy added 10 points for the Cardinals. M.Lawson led GlenOak with 11 points.
Austintown Fitch 52, Howland 43 — Kylie Folkwein 19 points to lead Fitch. A 21-6 third quarter helped the Falcons put the game out of reach. For Howland, Maya Kubancsek led with 15 points and Grace Corley scored 10.
Hubbard 52, Southeast 48 — Chloe Cicero knocked down eight 3-pointers en route to a 32 point performance to lead Hubbard. The eight 3-pointers is a new Hubbard school record. Cicero also had five steals. Aniyah McElroy led the Eagles with 11 rebounds and scored five points. Lylia Lavina scored 12 to lead Southeast.
Warren Harding 49, Boardman 27 — Azarriah Phillips had 15 points to lead Harding. Akeehla Barnes added a double double with 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Raiders, as did Ja’Leah Provitt with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Provitt also had four steals. Maddy Slevom led Boardman with 12 points and four steals. Lili Isom pulled down 11 rebounds for the Spartans.
WRESTLING
The 65th annual Howland Invitational was held on Saturday, and the host Tigers won the team championship, along with many stout individual performances. Taking home first place was Brayden Cortese at 114 lbs. and Deacon Mock at 144 lbs. Second place finishers included Aidan O’Donnell at 150 lbs., Eddie Morrison at 157 lbs., and Owen Dreher at 215 lbs. Cohen Rudesill took third place at 165 lbs., while Patrick Neff (126 lbs.) and Blake Culver-Schonce (175 lbs.) had fourth place finishes for the Tigers.
