GIRLS BASKETBALL

Badger 56, Mathews 34 — Brinley Rice scored 14 points, Riley Thomas had 11 and Maelyn Custer added 10 as the Braves opened the season with a win. Rylee Paddock led the Mustangs with 12 points, and Callie Robison and Marlee Ruiter each scored eight points.

Geneva 27, Champion 21 — The Golden Flashes were in a defensive battle to start the season. Mackenzie Braham led Champion with nine points and seven rebounds, and Brilea Woods chipped in six points. Giovanna Bobish scored a game-high 10 points for the Eagles.

LaBrae 54, Cardinal 28 — The Vikings overpowered Cardinal in the first half as LaBrae took a 30-11 lead into the locker room. LaBrae’s Angel Scruggs led all scorers with 12 points. Riley Rowe added nine, and Ella Kuszmaul finished with eight.
