Canfield, Mooney atop regions in latest computer ratings

The latest OHSAA football computer rankings saw two Cardinals atop their respective divisions.
Canfield and Cardinal Mooney were the two Mahoning Valley teams ranked first in their regions heading into Week 8.
Canfield has 22.8143 points, and is the top team in Division III, Region 9. Canfield is the only area team in the top 16 in the region.
Meanwhile, Cardinal Mooney (14.898) jumped ahead of Poland, who is now second with 14.1357 points in Division V, Region 17.
Girard (13.7756) is third, Garrettsville Garfield (11.7532) is fourth, South Range (7.373) fell to eighth, Pymatuning Valley (7.1939) is ninth, Liberty (6.0286) is 10th and Lakeview (4.3232) is just on the outside of the 12th spot as the Bulldogs are 14th.
Austintown Fitch is the top local team in Division II, Region 5. The Falcons were fifth with 15.3889 points. Boardman’s win over Warren G. Harding on Friday pushed them to 11th, while the Raiders fell out of the top 16.
In Division IV, Region 13, West Branch is the top local school with 12.25 points and sits in sixth. Hubbard (11.0643) ranks ninth and Salem (7.6857) is 11th.
Crestview is second in Division VI, Region 21, with 13.4429 points. Mineral Ridge has continued its strong season and is seventh with 9.2872 points and Springfield (7.5556) is 11th. Brookfield (4.513) and Columbiana (4.1944) are 15th and 16th, respectively.
In Division VII, Region 25, McDonald is still undefeated and ranks third with 9.551 points. East Palestine (7.05) isn’t too far behind in sixth and Jackson-Milton (3.551) is 10th.
Leetonia (2.9796) is just outside the top 12, ranking 13th. And Western Reserve (2.3673) is 15th, while Mathews (1.9286) is 16th.
